About Annenberg Media

  1. What does Annenberg Media do?
  2. Our mission is to advance excellent teaching in American schools through the development and distribution of multimedia resources for teaching and learning. We are a unit of the Annenberg Foundation, which funds a wide range of programs in education and other areas.

  3. How do you "advance excellent teaching"?
  4. On the web — Video programs are streamed for on-demand viewing through our web site, www.learner.org.
On DVD and in print — All our titles are available for purchase on DVD. Related print resources can be viewed and downloaded from the web site. Most are also available for purchase in hard copy. You can order programs through our online catalog.
On air — Our video programs air on local PBS stations, school and community cable and broadcast channels. We do not know when one of our programs will be broadcast. To get the schedule, please contact your local station or public access channel.

  5. How can I apply for funding?
  6. We do not hold open solicitations for multimedia proposals. Our funding is restricted to producers that have a track record of developing large multimedia and multi part projects in core subjects focused on an audience of educators. Please review our web site for examples of these programs. If you would like to inquire about submitting a proposal for our consideration, please send an email to info@learner.org.

  7. How can I find a program that is no longer available?
  8. We stream many programs on our web site that are no longer distributed in hard copy. After the distribution rights to a series expire, they revert to the series producer. If you are looking for a particular title that you do not see on the Web site, please contact us at info@learner.org and we will refer you to the correct producer.

  9. How are you related to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB)?
  10. Annenberg Media was formerly known as Annenberg /CPB when it was a project contracted by the Annenberg Foundation located at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. At the conclusion of the contract with the Annenberg Foundation in 2004, Annenberg/CPB left the CPB and became a part of the Foundation. Shortly after, the name was changed to Annenberg Media.

  11. How can I get a print catalog and be added to your mailing list?
  12. You can get on our catalog mailing list by sending an email to info@learner.org. You can also request to be added to our monthly email update list, where we announce the availability of new courses. We do not sell or share our mailing or email lists with outside companies or organizations.

  13. How can I contact someone who has appeared in a video?
  14. If the person is an educator, you can check the accompanying series web site for the name of their school or organization and contact them that way. If you cannot find an affiliation, you can try contacting the series producing agency which is listed on the information overview page for each series.
